Men's and Women's Swimming Compete at Mars Hill and Roanoke on Friday and Saturday

FRIDAY'S RESULTS AT MARS HILL | SATURDAY'S RESULTS AT ROANOKE

MARS HILL, N.C. & SALEM, Va.
 – Lees-McRae men's and women's swimming competed on Friday and Saturday this week as the Bobcats recorded wins against Mars Hill on Friday. The Bobcats had multiple event victories over the two-day period with Zach Cameron placing first three times on Friday night and Tate Abbott joining him with three individual victories.

MEN'S RESULTS: Lees-McRae -150, Mars Hill - 99; Lees-McRae - 114 , Roanoke - 145

MEN'S NOTABLES:
  • Cameron led the Bobcats on Friday night at Mars Hill with three first-place finishes as the Grayson, Georgia native had individual victories in the 50 Yard Breaststroke (27.74), 50 Yard Freestyle (23.57), and 100 Yard Free (49.23). Cameron joined his fellow Bobcats to win the 200 Free Relay in a time of 1:28.73 to close the night.
  • Stephen Bandy joined Cameron with multiple event victories on Friday night as Bandy won the 50 Yard Backstroke in 26.25 and the 100Y Back in 56.98. Bandy was part of the 200 Free Relay with Cameron, Cooper Gobble, and Josh Wall.
  • Nathan Higdon had a solid night in the pool as the Bobcat collected an event win in the 100 Yard Breaststroke (1:00.24) and two second-place finishes in the 50 Yard Breast and 50 Yard Butterfly.
  • The Bobcats won nine of the 14 events on the night with Lees-McRae earning the 150-99 victory at Mars Hill on Friday night.
  • Chase Davis recorded multiple wins for the Bobcats on Saturday as he was victorious in the 100 Yard Back (54.00) and 200 Yard Back (1:57.63). Lees-McRae also ended the day with an event win in the 400 Yard Relay in a time of 3:12.47.
  • Wall had a couple of victories on Saturday afternoon in the 100 Yard Fly (52.53) and 200 Yard Fly (1:58.47).

WOMEN'S NOTABLES:
  • Abbott paced Lees-McRae on Friday night with three individual wins in the pool as the junior from High Point, North Carolina earned victories in the 100 Yard Fly (1:00.44), 100 Free (54.11), and 50 Fly (27.25). Abbott closed the night in the top podium spot in the 200 Free Relay with teammates Lucia Ruchti, Guillermina Rentsch, and Taylor Simmons.
  • Ruchti followed with two event wins at Mars Hill in the 200 Free (2:01.88) and the 50 Free (25.70) for the Bobcats. Ruchti guided Lees-McRae with an opening relay win in the 200 Yard Medley Relay with Fanny Courbot, Hannah Gunsallus, and Rentsch joining her to open the night.
  • Rentsch also had a solid night with two individual victories in the 50 Yard Backstroke (28.73) and the 500 Yard Free (5:35.29).
  • On Saturday, Courbot had a solid day as she recorded two individual victories in the 100 Yard Breaststroke (1:10.60), 200 Yard Breast (2:32.37), and a relay win in the 200 Yard Medley. Rentsch followed with an individual victory in the 100 Back in a time of 1:00.99.
 
UP NEXT:
The Lees-McRae men's and women's swimming programs are back in the pool next Saturday as the Bobcats face Lenoir-Rhyne for a tri-meet with the host Bears and Catawba.
