GREENEVILLE, Tenn. –
J.P. Galloway and
Ryan Bird both scored two goals, but it was not enough as host Tusculum outscored the visiting Bobcats 10-3 in the first 15 minutes of action and held off a late Lees-McRae rally to clinch the 20-8 non-conference win this evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Galloway also chipped in two assists to pace the Bobcats, while Bird added a caused turnover and four ground balls.
- Spence Combs finished with a goal and an assist, while Tyler Flannelly, Tyler Finley, and Jake Emm also scored for the Bobcats.
- Lees-McRae sprinted out of the locker room with two goals by Flannelly and Bird in the first 2:12 of action to give the Bobcats the early lead.
- After Tusculum responded with four goals, Galloway scored his first goal with 6:04 left to trim the lead to 4-3.
- The Pioneer tallied six-unanswered goals to take a 10-3 lead at the first intermission.
- Tusculum held a 3-1 edge in goals in the second stanza, with the lone Bobcat goal coming from Combs, to take a 13-4 halftime lead.
- After the Bobcats were shutout in the third frame, Lees-McRae used fourth-quarter goals by Bird, Galloway, Emm, and Finley (man-up goal) to cut into the deficit, but a final Pioneer goal clinched the non-conference win.
- Tusculum held a 35-22 shots-on-goal advantage and won 24 of the 30 total faceoffs.
FOR THE FOES:
- Tristan Kirkham finished with five goals and two assists to pace the Pioneers, while Lorenz Brown and Nate Raymond chipped in five goals and one assist each.
UP NEXT:
The Bobcats will return to Tate Field on Wednesday, Feb. 23 for a non-conference game against Pfeiffer to start a stretch of three consecutive home games.
