BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae men's and women's swimming hosted King yesterday evening in Banner Elk for a dual meet with the Tornado.
Tate Abbott led the Bobcats with three individual victories on the night and
Rien Freeman and
Nathan Higdon picked up wins on the men's side.

MEN'S NOTABLES:
- The Bobcats started the meet with the 200 Yard Medley Relay with the team of Chase Davis, Caleb Eidson, Cooper Gobble, and Higdon finishing with a time of 1:37.12.
- Gobble took second in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 50.48 and closed the evening with a third-place finish in the 50 Yard Butterfly after touching the wall in 24.35.
- Higdon started his events in the 50 Yard Backstroke with a time of 27.14 collecting second place in the 100 Yard IM along with his first-place finish in the 100 Yard Breaststroke.
- Freeman, a dual sport athlete along with cross country and track & field, turned in a personal best in the 1000 Yard Free with a time of 17:07.37.
- Davis earned third in the 100 Yard Free (50.84) and two second-place finishes in the 50 Yard Backstroke (26.15) and the 100Y Back (55.69).
- Thomas Ware competed in the 50 Yard Breaststroke (4th, 30.12), 50 Yard Free (2nd, 22.69), 50 Yard Butterfly (5th, 25.00), and the 200 Yard Free Relay with a time of 1:31.41.
WOMEN'S NOTABLES:
- Abbott opened Wednesday evening with second place in the 200 Yard Medley Relay along with teammates Piper Kelly, Kandace Kennedy, and Guillermina Rentsch. Abbott continued her strong meet with three first-place finishes in the 100 Yard Free (55.30), 100 Yard Butterfly (1:02.00), and 50 Yard Free (24.56).
- Rentsch took first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:04.10 and turned in a second-place time in the 50 Yard Free (29.25) and third in the 50 Yard Free (26.78).
- Taylor Simmons placed second in the 50 Yard Breaststroke to start her evening and earned two more second-place finishes in the 50 Yard Free (26.06) and 50 Yard Butterfly (29.22).
- Kennedy tallied a second-place finish in the 100 Yard Backstroke (1:04.32) and two third-place finishes in the 50 Yard Backstroke (29.97) and 50 Yard Breaststroke (35.94).
