ROME, Ga. – Taylor Beurrier went 5-5 from the plate in today's softball doubleheader at Shorter University. The Lees-McRae softball team fell to the Hawks in both games on Friday afternoon.
GAME #1 BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Shorter – 12; Lees-McRae – 2 F/5
LOCATION: Alto Park Softball Complex – Rome, Georgia
RECORDS: Shorter (6-22/3-8), Lees-McRae (6-25/0-9)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
	- Shorter jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second and added eight runs over the next two innings for the 12-1 lead. Shorter collected the win in five innings at 12-2.
 
	- Rylee Konowalchuk got the Bobcats on the board with an RBI double to center field in the fourth and Destiny Brown scored Ashleigh Drake on an RBI double in the fifth for Lees-McRae.
 
	- Beurrier went 2-2 from the plate with one run scored for Lees-McRae. Beurrier, Brown, and Konowalchuk contributed one double apiece in the contest.
 
	- Ellie Hale suffered the loss for Lees-McRae after allowing nine runs (seven earned) on nine hits and three walks in three and one-third innings pitched.
 
GAME #2 BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Shorter – 5; Lees-McRae – 2
LOCATION: Alto Park Softball Complex – Rome, Georgia
RECORDS: Shorter (7-22/4-8), Lees-McRae (6-26/0-10)
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
	- Beurrier tied the second game of the day with a two-run home run in the third inning for Lees-McRae.
 
	- Shorter used three runs in the fifth inning for the 5-2 victory in Conference Carolinas play.
 
	- Beurrier led the Bobcats with three hits in three plate appearances. Brittany Gingrich added a run scored in the second game of today's doubleheader.
 
	- Hayley Lawing registered the loss for the Bobcats after going five innings in the start and allowing five runs (five earned) on 10 hits and two strikeouts.
