MARS HILL, N.C. – Allie Johnston recorded two hits and three RBIs this afternoon, but the Lees-McRae softball fell short to Mars Hill in a doubleheader on Ponder Field.
GAME #1 BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Mars Hill recorded 13 runs and only allowed one hit in today's opening game for the 13-0 victory in five innings.
- Dena Peregrin tallied one hit in her lone plate appearance for the Bobcats.
- Georgia McConnell was dealt the loss in the circle after surrendering four runs (four earned) on four hits and two walks in one and two-thirds innings pitched.
GAME #2 BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Mars Hill – 13, Lees-McRae – 5 F/5
LOCATION: Ponder Field – Mars Hill, North Carolina
RECORDS: Mars Hill (9-3); Lees-McRae (2-4)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Taylor Beurrier opened the second game with a leadoff home run to give Lees-McRae the 1-0 lead.
- Mars Hill answered with four runs in the bottom of the first and four more in the second inning.
- The Bobcats bounced back in the third inning with three runs scored. Beurrier got on base with a walk and advanced to third on a single from Abby Haltey. Johnston cleared the bases with a three-run home run to cut the deficit to 8-4.
- Mars Hill plated two more in the bottom of the third and led 13-4 after four innings.
- Maycee Tickle drove in Beurrier for the fifth run of the game for the Bobcats in the fifth inning. Lees-McRae fell to Mars Hill, 13-5.
- Johnston led the Bobcats with two hits and three RBIs of her home run. Beurrier, Hatley, and Tickle all registered one hit each in the contest.
- Charlotte Lowry was handed the loss in the circle after allowing four runs (four earned) on three hits in two-thirds of an inning pitched.
