Softball Falls Short to Belmont Abbey on Road

BELMONT, N.C. – The Lees-McRae softball team returned to the diamond on Tuesday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas doubleheader at Belmont Abbey. The Bobcats fell to the Crusaders in both games on Tuesday.

GAME #1 BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Belmont Abbey – 10, Lees-McRae – 1 F/6
LOCATION: Crusader Field – Belmont, North Carolina
RECORDS: Belmont Abbey (19-16/11-6); Lees-McRae (8-20/2-12)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Belmont Abbey scored three runs in three different innings to pick up the 10-1 win over Lees-McRae in the first game.
• Maycee Tickle drove in Abby Hatley for the lone run for the Bobcats. Tickle went 2-3 from the plate. Taylor Beurrier, Haylea Huffines, Allie Johnston, Avery Walston, and Hatley all recorded one hit in the contest.
• Ellie Hale was dealt the loss in the circle after surrendering three runs (three earned) in the start.

GAME #2 BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Belmont Abbey – 5, Lees-McRae – 0
LOCATION: Crusader Field – Belmont, North Carolina
RECORDS: Belmont Abbey (20-16/12-6); Lees-McRae (8-21/2-13)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Beurrier, Hatley, and Huffines registered hits in the second game of today's doubleheader, but Belmont Abbey earned the 5-0 shutout victory.
• Georgia McConnell went five full innings in the start and allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and two strikeouts. Haley Littrell pitched in relief and went one inning with two runs (two earned) on 23 pitches.
• Huffines went 1-2 from the plate and one walk.
