GREENVILLE, S.C. – After a historic season, Lees-McRae men's lacrosse dominated the Conference Carolinas Men's Lacrosse All-Conference honors with seven Bobcats being voted to the teams.
Connor Costigan,
Cayden Onagi, and
Carter Whissell received major awards with Offensive Player of the Year, Co-Defensive Player of the Year, and Freshman of the Year.
Onagi, a Senior Attack from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, led the Bobcats this season with 52 goals, 38 assists, and 90 points in 13 contests. Onagi led Conference Carolinas in total goals, goals per game, assists per game, and points per game. Onagi also received first-team honors for his accomplishments on the field.
Costigan, a Senior Defense from Orangeville, Ontario, Canada, guided the Bobcat defense with an average of 3.21 caused turnovers per game with 45 total caused turnovers in 14 games this season. Costigan picked up 45 ground balls and tallied a goal in the regular-season finale against Emmanuel. Costigan joined Onagi on the first-team selection.
Whissell, a Freshman Midfielder from Cambridge, Ontario, Canada, was tabbed the Freshman of the Year after registering 17 goals and 10 assists in 13 games for Lees-McRae men's lacrosse. Whissell ranked in the conference's top 25 in both goals and assists.
Kyler Donahue, Cole Morris, and Adam Ross joined Costigan and Onagi on the first team after stellar seasons. Kyler Donahue won 62.2% on faceoffs with 115 wins and 61 ground ball pickups. Morris followed Onagi's lead on the offensive end with 48 goals and 20 assists in 15 games. Ross was third on the team in goals scored with 20 goals and was honored to the first team.
Alex Epple, a Senior Goalkeeper from Lititz, Pennsylvania, rounded out the Bobcats in the all-conference mentions. Epple received second-team all-conference after being named the Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Week on February 2 and April 6. Epple ranked first in save percentage, 58.1%, second in saves per game, 12.87, and fourth in goals against average, 10.88, among Conference Carolinas Goalkeepers.
Lees-McRae men's lacrosse enters the 2026 Conference Carolinas Men's Lacrosse Championship as the second seed and will face the third-seeded North Greenville this evening at 7 p.m. in Young Harris, Georgia.
