Morgan Wyatt hired as Assistant Softball Coach

BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae Head Softball Coach Kendall Fuller announces the hiring of Morgan Wyatt as an assistant coach on Tuesday morning. Wyatt comes to the mountains from Mocksville, North Carolinas where she served in a multitude of roles including the Head Varsity Softball Coach for the Davie County High School team and as an Assistant Athletic Director at both North Davie and South Davie Middle School, among others.

"Morgan brings an energy and passion for coaching and for the game of softball that is unmatched," said Fuller. "I could not be more excited to have her join our coaching staff here in Banner Elk. Her experience as a player and coach will elevate our program. I can't wait to see the positive impact she has on our student-athletes on and off the field."

In addition to her roles within the Athletic Departments in Mocksville, Wyatt also serves as a Health & Physical Education teacher at the South Davie Middle School, while also serving as the school's Athletic Trainer from 2015-18. Wyatt found success on the field as a Head Softball Coach by being named the Central Piedmont Conference Coach of the Year for the 2021 season.

"I would like to thank Coach Fuller for giving me this opportunity to become part of the Lees-McRae softball family," said Wyatt. "I am very excited to get started and begin working with the student-athletes here in Banner Elk. From my first conversation with Coach Fuller, I knew that there was something special happening on the mountain with this softball program and I am excited to be a part of it."

Prior to her experience in Mocksville, North Carolina, Wyatt earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Western Carolina University, while also playing two years of collegiate softball at the NCAA Division I level under then assistant coach Kendall Fuller. In addition to her success on the field, Wyatt was also a four-time member of the Western Carolina Dean's List.
