WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Jean Origene and
Brian Sims Jr. won Conference Championship titles in the 60-meter dash and the 400-meter dash respectively, while
Ian Kelbert and
Christian Bargaineer garnered All-Conference Carolinas honors in the 3,000-meter run and 60-meter hurdles, to lead the Lees-McRae men's indoor track & field team to a fifth-place finish overall on the final day of the Conference Carolinas Indoor Track & Field Championships this afternoon.

MEN'S NOTABLES:
- Origene won the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.87 to garner All-Conference Carolinas honors, which tied his school-record time in the event and also tied his NCAA Division II provisional time.
- Sims Jr, who broke the school record in his event on Sunday in the preliminary round, won the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.51, which was only .03 seconds off his record-breaking time.
- Kelbert crossed second in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:49.35 to garner All-Conference Carolinas honors, which was only a second off the school record time of 8:48 set in 2006.
- Bargaineer finished third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.53 to garner All-Conference Carolinas honors.
- The 4x400-meter relay team of Sims Jr., J.D. Green, Garrett Ybarra, and Jeff Nickerson finished fourth with a time of 3:25.36.
- Max Geckler was also fifth in the 3,000-meter run (8:56.72), while Brennen Pierce was sixth in the mile run (4:25.10), which was only a second off the school record time of 4:24.15 set in 2013.
- Bargaineer and Orrin Elmer were 11th (12.07 meters) and 12th (11.79 meters) in the triple jump, while David James Exum was 13th (11.45 meters) in the shot put competition.
- Green finished third in the high jump with a mark of 1.98 meters on Sunday to garner All-Conference Carolinas honors, while Kelbert was third in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:17.57 to garner All-Conference Carolinas honors.
- The distance medley relay team of Ybarra, Nickerson, Rien Freeman, and Pierce finished third (10:33.83) to garner All-Conference Carolinas honors.

- With the higher team finish on the men's side, Lees-McRae earns another point in the season-long "Battle for the Blue Ridge Cup" competition.
