Ryan Bird and
Jake Emm both finished with multiple goals, but it was not enough as host Belmont Abbey scored six-unanswered goals in the first quarter and nine-unanswered goals in the third quarter en route to clinching a 20-8 win in the Conference Carolinas contest this afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Bird also tallied two ground balls and a caused turnover, while Emm chipped in two ground balls.
- Tyler Flannelly, J.P. Galloway, Spence Combs, and Cade Andres also scored for the Bobcats, while Casey Zazzaro added a team-high five ground balls.
- Belmont Abbey scored just 41 seconds into the first quarter and tallied six first-quarter goals to grab momentum early.
- After the Crusaders extended the lead to 8-0, Combs scored the lone Lees-McRae goal in the first half as Belmont Abbey claimed a 10-1 halftime lead.
- The Crusaders scored the next 10 goals to push the lead to 20-1 with 14:10 left in the fourth quarter.
- Flannelly, Andres, Bird (2), Emm (2), and Galloway all scored in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough as Belmont Abbey clinched the conference win.
- The Crusaders held a 60-31 edge in total shot and a 44-28 advantage in ground balls in the contest.
FOR THE FOES:
- Austin Hasen and Noah Haas both finished with five goals to pace the Crusaders.
- Thomas Sullivan, Ben Sabelhaus, and Easton Butterfield combined to make 19 saves in net for Belmont Abbey.
