PENSACOLA, Fla. – Lees-McRae women's volleyball dropped a pair of matches today against Central Missouri and host West Florida.
Julia Emore collected 13 kills in the two matches on the day and
Sydney Stigler followed with eight total kills to lead the Bobcats.
GAME 1 BASICS
FINAL SCORE: #8 Central Missouri def. Lees-McRae, 3-0 (25-17, 25-12, 25-21)
LOCATION: UWF Field House – Pensacola, Florida
RECORDS: Central Missouri (1-0), Lees-McRae (0-1)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Emore posted a team-high 10 kills for the Bobcats and added 10 assists for her first collegiate double-double.
- Annalaine Tew followed her fellow classmate Emore with seven kills and a hitting percentage of .294.
- Stigler and Destiny Holley chipped in with four kills apiece with Lees-McRae tallying 30 kills in the match.
- Madison Goins dished out 15 assists for the Bobcats and added six digs as Bre Adamson led on the defensive front with 12 digs.
- Lees-McRae looked to rally in the third set after taking a 10-6 lead in the middle of the third. In the latter stages of the third set, the Bobcats held a 18-16 margin before Central Missouri picked up the set, 25-21, and match in three sets.
- UCM held the edge in hitting percentage at .278 to the Bobcats' .109 and totaled 40 kills in the match.
FOR THE JENNIES:
- Kersti Nix led Central Missouri on the offensive end with 11 kills as Grace Southern chipped in eight in the match.
- Olivia Olson collected a match-high 20 assists and Chandler Vaughan followed with 14 set assists.
- Rylie Barnum led the Jennies with 16 digs and Sydney Lierz added 12 digs to go along with seven kills in the morning session.
GAME 2 BASICS
FINAL SCORE: #5 West Florida def. Lees-McRae, 3-0 (25-4, 25-5, 25-13)
LOCATION: UWF Field House - Pensacola, Florida
RECORDS: West Florida (3-0), Lees-McRae (0-2)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Stigler led Lees-McRae with four kills in the second contest of the day and Emore and Holley chipped in three kills apiece.
- Adamson collected six digs in the match for the Bobcats and Tew led Lees-McRae with seven assists.
- Holley had two total blocks in three sets to go along with a hitting percentage of .250.
FOR THE ARGONAUTS:
- Jenna Zydlo led a balanced attack for West Florida as she tallied eight kills on the night and Jacque Martin and Alex Oliver each had seven kills.
- Taylor Vaneekeren started the offense for the Argonauts with 26 assists and five digs.
UP NEXT:
The Bobcats are back in action tomorrow with two matches as part of Springhill Suites Tournament. Lees-McRae will face Spring Hill (Ala.) at 11 a.m. before finishing the tournament against Wheeling University at 2:30 p.m.
