BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae College Head Softball Coach
Josh Bumgarner has announced Ciara Hanson as the new Assistant Softball Coach at Lees-McRae.
"Our program is very excited to bring Ciara on board,
" said Bumgarner. "Her strong work ethic and college playing experience will be a valuable asset to myself and our players."
Hanson comes to Banner Elk from Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute in Hudson, North Carolina where she served as an assistant coach. Hanson assisted Caldwell in evaluating player performance, identifying areas for improvement, and executing practice plans for athletes.
"I am incredibly excited to join the Lees-McRae softball coaching staff and feel truly blessed to have this opportunity," said Hanson. "Working under Coach Bumgarner and being part of such a strong and passionate program is an honor. I look forward to contributing to the development and success of the team, helping our student-athletes grow both on and off the field."
Prior to Caldwell, Hanson served as a social media manager for Caldwell Athletics and oversaw the social media presence that included social media video content that highlighted players for both baseball and softball. Hanson also served as a volleyball coach for Carolina Select Volleyball Club in Hickory, North Carolina where she developed and implemented training plans.
Hanson will graduate with a bachelor's degree in Sport Management from Liberty University in December 2024. Hanson holds an associate's degree from Caldwell Community College.
