BANNER ELK, N.C. – On a snowy afternoon in Banner Elk, Lees-McRae men's lacrosse fell to Shorter, 11-8, after Shorter's goalkeeper Chase Finley made 21 stops in goal.
Tyler Flannelly paced the Bobcats with three goals on the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lees-McRae opened the scoring at the 10:52 mark of the first quarter after Ryan Bird found the back of the net off a pass from Clay Adams.
- Shorter answered with two goals, but Cyrus Henderson tied the game at 2-2 with 3:17 left in the first period. The Hawks carried the 3-2 lead into the second quarter after a marker from Jaden Sealey.
- The two teams traded goals with Dylan Gignac and the Bobcats knotting the contest once more at 4-4. Shorter ended the half with a 4-1 run and led 8-5 at halftime.
- The Bobcats cut into the four-goal deficit with two goals by Flannelly in the third period, but Shorter held the 9-7 advantage heading into the final 15 minutes of action.
- Shorter's Lucas Sharrer extended the lead for the Hawks at 10-7 and Sealey added his fifth goal of the game with 6:03 remaining.
- Adams picked up a goal with 3:12 left in the fourth for Lees-McRae, but the Bobcats dropped their first game of the season, 11-8, to Shorter.
- Adams, Bird, Valentino Cortes, Gignac, and Henderson all tallied goals for the Bobcats today. Jones Hobgood went 12-21 from the faceoff and picked up six ground balls.
FOR THE HAWKS:
- Finley guided Shorter to today's victory with 21 saves in the goal.
- Sealey had a game-high five goals and added one assist in the contest. Sharrer had a hat trick with one ground ball pickup. Grant Sanders collected two goals and three ground balls for the Hawks.

Lees-McRae begins Conference Carolinas play on Saturday, March 16 at Mount Olive. The game with the Trojans is scheduled for 12 p.m. start in Mount Olive.
