BANNER ELK, N.C. — Lees-McRae men's lacrosse opened Conference Carolinas play on Saturday afternoon with a 17-10 victory over Chowan on Tate Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Bennett Gibbons tallied the first goal of the day for the Bobcats eight seconds after Chowan scored the opening goal. Mark Henderson gave Lees-McRae the lead with 4:40 before Chowan tied the game up with a man-up goal at the 2:55 mark of the first quarter.
- Cole Morris started the scoring run for the Bobcats in the second quarter with a goal at the 9:36 mark and Zach Basisty doubled the lead three minutes later. Cayden Onagi and Adam Ross found the back of the net for the 6-2 lead at the halftime break.
- Henderson added another tally out of the halftime break, but Chowan closed the deficit to two goals. Lees-McRae bounced back and held the 11-6 margin through 45 minutes.
- Lees-McRae registered six goals in the final quarter for the 17-10 Conference Carolinas win in the Bobcats' home opener.
- Morris led the Bobcats with four goals and two assists. Ross followed with a hat trick. Henderson, Ryan Voll, and Carter Whissell recorded two goals apiece in the contest.
- Gibbons went 13-16 from the faceoff with nine groundball pickups. Kyler Donahue finished the day going 9-13 from the dot with seven ground balls and one goal. Alex Epple earned the win in the crease and made 11 saves in 54 minutes of action.
