BELMONT, N.C. — Cole Morris and
Cayden Onagi scored hat tricks this evening, but Lees-McRae men's lacrosse fell to Belmont Abbey, 14-11, on the road.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Morris opened the scoring with 12:13 left in the first quarter off a pass from Zach Basisty. Belmont Abbey answered with five goals to end the first quarter and led 5-1.
- Onagi ended the Crusader scoring run with a goal at the 12:22 mark of the second quarter. Morris moved the margin back to three goals before halftime as Lees-McRae trailed 8-5.
- Adam Ross tallied a goal at the 12:39 mark of the third quarter, but Belmont Abbey held the four-goal advantage into the final quarter.
- The Bobcats found themselves down by six goals with 7:51 left in the contest. Lees-McRae cut the deficit in half, but Belmont Abbey earned the 14-11 win in their Conference Carolinas opener.
- Morris and Onagi led the Bobcats with three goals each. Basisty, Andrew Lilly, Mark Henderson, Ross, and Ryan Voll all registered one goal each in the game.
- Bennett Gibbons went 9-19 from the faceoff with six ground ball pickups this evening. Alex Epple made 15 saves in goal for the Bobcats.
