THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: White – 3, Green - 1
LOCATION: Williams Gymnasium – Banner Elk, N.C.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Ney finished with a game-high 17 kills, while Larson and freshman Kayla Myers chipped in 12 and seven kills respectively.
- Bre Adamson and Lauren Xayavong combined for seven aces to lead the White Team.
- Senior Caitlyn Smirne paced the Green Team with 10 kills, while freshmen Harley Shumaker and Kavanna Held each tallied nine kills.
- The White Team jumped out to an early lead by claiming the first set 25-22 behind multiple kills from Ney and Larson.
- The Green Team responded by closing out the second frame on a 14-4 run to claim the set, 25-14.
- After trading points for the majority of the third set, the White Team capitalized on a couple of serving errors late to retake a 2-1 sets lead with a 25-23 win.
- Both the White Team and the Green Team had chances throughout the fourth stanza, including a multi-point run for each, but it was a final kill from Ney that proved to be the difference as the White Team closed out the victory with a 25-23 win in the final set.
- The White Team posted a game-high nine blocks, while the Green Team finished with seven blocks.
