LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Lees-McRae softball team, under head coach
Kendall Fuller, was honored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Monday afternoon by earning the sixth-highest cumulative GPA (3.738) in the NCAA Division II for the 2021-22 academic year. In addition to the overall team honor, 19 Bobcats captured Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for their outstanding achievements in the classroom. The Bobcats finished the regular season with a 13-11 record in conference play to earn a spot in the 2022 Conference Carolinas postseason tournament, before falling short to North Greenville in the first round, and posted a 3.738 cumulative GPA during the 2021-22 academic year to rank sixth in the NCAA Division II this season. Their overall team GPA also lead both the Conference Carolinas and the Southeast Region this past year. All members of the Lees-McRae softball team earned above a 3.0 cumulative GPA during the 2021-22 academic year.
Student-athletes must have earned a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher for the 2021-22 academic year to be recognized as All-America Scholar-Athletes. Team GPAs and scholar-athletes are submitted by the member head coaches. The NCAA Division II had over 1,600 student-athletes who received this academic honor.
